Bri Hayes

Bri Hayes is a multidisciplinary artist, educator, and Director of Galerie Camille in Detroit. She also serves as Vice President of the UPTA Project (Unite People Through Art), a local nonprofit dedicated to community engagement through the arts.

A 2022 graduate of Oakland University with a degree in K-12 Art Education, Hayes brings her passion for creative learning to non-traditional settings. She teaches a small cohort of students through workshops, studio visits, and live talk shows with local creative professionals. Recently, she produced Mixture of Four, a children’s talk show hosted by fifth graders who interview and collaborate with Detroit artists while spotlighting the city’s cultural spaces.

Hayes is the founder of Play Is Process, a K-12 youth art program designed to foster creativity, critical thinking, and self-expression among Detroit’s youth. Through immersive workshops led by practicing artists and educators, students explore disciplines such as drawing, painting, sculpture, mixed media, photography, and more. Each experience is crafted to encourage creative risk-taking and deepen understanding of art’s role in shaping personal and social identity.

As an artist, Hayes explores themes of community, identity, social justice, and surrealism. Her notable series include Detroit is the Blueprint and The Revolution Will Not Be Televised. She has exhibited at galleries throughout Detroit, including Galerie Camille, Scarab Club, Detroit Artists Market, and others.

Hayes believes deeply in the transformative power of representation and education. Through her leadership at Galerie Camille and UPTA Project, she is committed to creating inclusive spaces for artistic exploration, dialogue, and community building — with a vision to transform lives through arts and cultural programming in Detroit and beyond.
